Sangju Silver Sand Beach (상주 은모래비치)

Silver sand beach is located in Namhea Island, part t of Gyeonsangnam - do. Situated in Sangju-myeon, a well-known for leisure sports like sea rafting and kayaking and sea activities like the traditional way of fishing on a boat. This is the most famous beach in Namhae. A splendid with the two kilometer-long pine tree grove surrounding the sandy beach in a crescent moon shape. And because of it's gentle waves, the beach is ideal for sea bathing. It is also famous for camping.

In continuation of our 4 days wondering around Gyeongsangnam -do, arriving in Dumo village our 6th destination for day one. We've learned that the place is well-known for leisure sports like sea rafting and kayaking and sea activities like the traditional fishing on a boat, but this day was so peaceful and quiet.

What I really love about Namhea is it's countryside atmosphere yet modernized. They kept the tradition and took care and kept the nature untouched yet living the modern days. That is one thing so undeniably noticeable about this beautiful Island.

I am a fond of structures and I truly admired whoever is behind this awesome design container building. I wanted to go up there but, it was closed. I went inside of the first floor which supposed to serve as tourism office and got maps. I even had a nice chat and a cup of free coffee from the wonderful people inside.

Everything around was amazing, but this is my favorite one. A musical monument that constantly plays a classic 1975 songs. Something visitors would never missed cause it is located right in the middle of the way.

To get to the beach which is just a few steps away from the parking lot. You will experience some kind of fantasy entering this magical forest mood. But wait, I guess I am just too much of an imaginative person, LOL! But I guess not, because Immo agreed with me.

That is the nice and very clean shower room over there.  Beautifully painted that added beauty to the natural landscape. I have not used it so I am not sure if it is free of charge. But in most cases, some Korean public shower rooms do not charge and if they do, it usually cost 3,000 won. (less than $3 dollars)

I definitely enjoyed the breeze of the wind with these tall and huge pine groves. Something new to me because I am used of seeing such trees in the mountain or streams and regular soiled land but not on a sand specially on a beach. What's amazing about these pine trees were they are really flaunting their beauties like as if they are growing like coconut trees.

The shop was closed and it looks like it was  having a nice nap during day time.. I just couldn't imagine how busy it was during summer. June, July and August.

The restroom therefore is always open and clean. One thing about Korean public restroom is always clean and it has toilet paper as well. And unlike other countries, Korea never charge public toilets. I thought my country only does it but, some Asian countries I've traveled does it too.

My family travel buddies were more interested on the beach view while I wanna know more about the place. They were tolerable of me disappearing out of their sight and appearing with a huge smile, information and a happy photo gallery Ha! ha! ha!

No words can describe how beautiful the beach is, it is indeed a jaw dropping scenery. We enjoyed taking groupies and walked around the beach.. Watch the video to see a clip of the whole crescent moon shaped silver sand beach.

We were there in the early September which is autumn so the beach was kind of finally resting from the beach goers and campers. But we've seen some tour bus bringing some tourist for a tour.

Sangju Silver sand Beach is busy all year round,  and it is most popular during summer. Many athletes comes here for physical training in the winter, school program camping in the spring and fall. And so as the local tourist and many tourist from all over the world. It was indeed a fantastic visit and we continued our journey to the beautiful Gacheon village.

Namhea seafood restaurant in Mijo Geongsang Do.

Being in Namhea just makes you crave for seafood, and I am sure there are many seafood restaurants around but in search of the best place to eat, we found ourselves circling around the beautiful Mijo, Mizo or Miseo. I'm not sure about the right English translation.

Located in the southernmost tip of the South Sea, which is the main island of Namhae. One among the two inhabited islands and 16 uninhabited islands, including beautiful coastline.

Not knowing where to go we just turned off the navigation and drove around the beautiful coastline of Moji.

We spotted this road going down the seashore so we followed.

Twas a spectacular view but we found no restaurant around.bu However, we couldn't help but to get off the car and enjoy the scenery. We had a nice walk along the shore. We were hoping that someone would appear so we could ask around but no one there.

We found a minbak sign meaning, transient in English.. It was some kind of a village where people can rent a room in the villagers houses. This is actually very common and a very nice way of experiencing the local life, of every parts of Korea. It would be cheaper than hotel as well. We haven't experienced it yet and we were considering about trying if we were not able to find a place to stay but we did.

We drove up and saw this interesting restaurant along the road, but for some reason no one was around too. Perhaps it was their day off. Or maybe it need a reservation but thanks for the nice scenery.

We continued driving and saw a road going down and followed but another beautiful scenery of pebble beach discovery.. We stopped and enjoyed the scenery and headed back on the road.

We even had a quick stop at the Marine diving school when we saw  a dock. But no restaurant around at all. Such a nice place. You watch the video if you wanna see the whole place, because I was not able to take picture and took video instead of this place.

And just when we thought we gave up searching for seafood restaurant, we will just get inside the first restaurant we find.

Whalllaaa! the Seafood world welcomed us! I was busy taking video here so I was not able to take photo of the wonderful seafood world but you can see it on the video as well.

Yum! yum! We're finally recharging, with fresh fish from the tank.

The remaining from the sashimi was turned into meawontang. (a delicious spicy fish soup) We paid about over 20,000 won (less than 20 US dollar) per head and we had a lot of left overs that we dogie bagged for our dinner.

As shown on the wall the place where we ate is quiet popular and was visited by many celebrities vacationing in the Island.

Our journey of trying to quenched our cravings must have been like a wonderful finding Nemo. 😉😱😛 Twas indeed a fun part of our adventure. We had no idea where to find one but, finding it was so much fun. A real fresh seafood and Sashimi at 경상남도 남해군 미조면. Twas a satisfying seafood lunch and  Mijo coastal exploration and we headed to our next destination.

American village in Namhea / 미국마을 경상남도 남해군

                         t

The American village is located right along the way if you are driving along the bay in Yongso - ri around Namhea, you'll definitely won't missed it. As the Statue of Liberty will absolutely grab your attention. You can either have a stop over for a picture taking, no admission and parking fees. But if you are looking for a get away place to stay you can rent one of the pension house and enjoy the rest of  your trip on this beautiful and peaceful village.

I was trying to look for a smaller map, but they had it engraved on the huge wall so, this is all I could cover. And there weren't enough space for me to back off.

Twas a very informative landmark and a very interesting introduction. We were not able to have any contacts nor have spoken to anybody there, but the wall had given us all we wanted to know. Ha! ha! ha! Talk to the wall. Yeah! I really didn't mind talking to this wall.

The interesting backside of the very informative wall.

And the stunning view of the Aenggang Bay which was perfected by the beauty of the getting ready for a golden harvest rice paddies.

I just couldn't help to take noticed of the cute bus stop design. I guess it represents Disney with it's floppy ears and a castle model castle behind it.. Lovely!

Oh! nice view of thy Statue of Liberty!

Grandma and Immo ( Immo is what Korean calls an aunt from mother side family and Kumo from the father side )  are currently residing in America and they would certainly love to retire here.

Let's go further more and see what's up there.

Hello! Wikiki we're in Hawaii  I guess..

Aha! The name of this pension house is WIKIKI BEACH.

We actually strolled around peeking if we could enter one of the
gates but I guess there isn't any walk ins around here. You'd either make a reservation online, or make a call.

They gotta free parking lot and toilets up further more, meaning we haven't explored half of the village yet but we were hungry. It was past 1 pm already and we have no idea where to find the best seafood restaurant in the Island.

We've decided to once again go find a seafood restaurant first and come back for the rest, since we were planning to visit the France village. But then we ended up somewhere else.

This was our quick yet wonderful experience with the American village of Namhea. And it is a continuation of our journey from  our day 1 of  our 4 days wandering around Gyeongsangnam - do. See you on my next blog about how we found the best seafood restaurant around the Island.
